Holy Land Experience re-invents itself
By James Becher
The Holy Land Experiance theme park in Orlando, Florida is a great place to visit. My wife and I went with my wife's sister on Friday, Oct.16, 2009. It was our second visit and we found that the theme park had made many changes. Kids section First of all the park has expanded its children's section called "smile of a child" and added one live show just for the kids. Outdoor setting changed There was a new building added, which we found out later was Pilate's judgement hall. SOme of the other exhibits, like the carpenter shop had been moved, apparently to make way for the addition. New exhibit There was a new exhibit of a boat found in the real Holy land, which they think MAY have been the boat Jesus taught from. Change in preformances They added some new shows and eliminated some others. They eliminated a few of the outdoor shows, which were relly great to watch because you felt you were right there. This may have been becuase it was October and they were expecting cooler whether. But, of course they would never eliminate the outdoor passion show. Two versions of the passion show. They also are now doing two versions of their great live passion drama, "Behold the Lamb." One takes place outside around the area of the garden tomb is is quite impressive as visitors actually see Jesus whipped and beaten on the way to the crucifixion, see him cricified and buried and then see him risen again. The second version of this show is even more spectacular because of the added ending which it would not have been possible to do outdoors. The new ending show the second coming of Jesus in all of His glory with spectacular dancing by angels and also some angels with herald trumpets. You have to see it to appreciate it. One really hoaky show which shouldn't have been shown. The only drawback in my oppinion was the other new show they added called "Celebrate America." First of all I fail to see why a show about America should even be in a theme park on the Holy land. But my wife's sister wanted to see it, so we did. It was real hoakey, belive me. There was guy playing as the town mayor who was always forgetting things and his flunky who was reminding him. It was supposed to be a celebration at a park. Anyway, I would recommend you skip that one. I would have liked to seen the scriptorium, but there wasn't enough time. Need for planning. When you go to the Holy Land Experience, you have to plan your day carefully, as they close at 6pm and you want to be sure to get everything in and see all the show--all the good ones, that is. |
